NFL - Konferenssifinaaliparit selvillä

 

Konferenssifinaaleja odotellessa

Viime yön varhaisina pikkutunteina selvisi tämän kauden konferenssifinaalijoukkueet NFL:ssä. Molemmissa konferensseissa, AFC ja NFC, pelataan finaalit tulevana sunnuntaina (toki aikaerosta johtuen ottelut ajoittuvat maanantain puolellekin, mutta tosi fania tuo ei häiritse).

AFC:ssä ottelupariksi saatiin Baltimore Ravens ja Kansas City Chiefs. Molemmat ansaitsivat hyvillä peliesityksillään paikan finaaliin, jossa jaetaankin sitten ei enempää tai vähempää kuin paikka helmikuun SuperBowl:iin.

NFC:n puolella taas finaalipariksi muodostui San Fransisco 49ers ja Detroit Lions.

Molempien konferenssifinalistit tuli onnistuneesti ennustettua jo ennen kauden alkua. 49ers on ollut suosikkini jo vuodesta 1991, kun sain kokoon NFL:n keräilykorttikansion täydellisenä ja kansion kannessa komeili kukas muu kuin 49ersin kuuluisa pelinrakentaja, Joe Montana.

Tuo korppijoukkue, Ravens, tuli suosikkien mukaan hieman myöhemmin, sillä joukkueen nimi kuvasi hyvin "Viestikorppien" työtä sotilaallisessa maanpuolustuksessa. Toki olisihan valinta voinut olla myös Chicago Bears, "Karhut", mutta tuo optio jäi käyttämättä. Hyvin ovat toki Karhutkin pärjänneet liigassa.

Nyt nähtyjen peliesitysten perusteella uskoisin, että Ravens ottaa helposti voiton haastajasta Chiefistä. Ravensin peli Texansia vastaa oli sen verran hyvää ja voittokin tuli melko helposti tuossa ottelussa. Toki muistettavaa on, että nyt vastaan asettuu astetta haastavampi joukkue kun Chief  tuo mukanaan huippu pelinrakentaja Patric Mahomesin sukkuloiman hyökkäysvoiman.

NFC:n puolella 49ersia odottaakin melkoisen tiukka kamppailu. Sen verran laadukasta peliä ovat Leijonat (Lions) esittäneet. Ja varsinkaan kun 49ersin peli Packersia vastaan ei ollut ihan kaikilta osin vielä valmista - mikä hämmästytti suuresti. Mutta, tiukan väännön jälkeen voitto kuitenkin otettiin ja nyt on aika tehdä loput hienosäädöt finaalia ajatellen.

Loppua kohden paranee.

Mitä tulee tuohon finaalikierrosten pelaamiseen ovat kortit vielä aika hyvin kasassa sillä finaaliin merkitsemäni joukkueet, Ravens ja 49ers, ovat vielä kuviossa vahvasti mukana. Se pääsevätkö molemmat joukkueet SuperBowliin jää vielä nähtäväksi.

Veikkauksen osaltahan tosiaan tuo ensimmäinen Wild Card (Villikorttikierros) meni hieman penkin alle kuten pisteetkin osoittavat (kuva yllä). Viikonlopun Divisioonakierros toi hieman parannusta tilastoon. Vielä on 600 pistettä jaossa ennen kuin peli vihelletään poikki.

San Francisco 49ers - Super Bowl XXIII vs. XLVII

Well - Quest for Six is on the "good run" and the final goal Super Bowl XLVII is close. It is a time to take a look at the year 1989 and Super Bowl XXIII when 49ers won Cincinnati in a very exciting final: 20 - 16. Hope to see more touchdowns from 49ers this time.

And finally the best movements of the game. Something like this:

After the 49ers tie the score at 6-6 late in the third quater, Cincinnati´s Stanford Jennings returns the following kickoff 93 yards for a TOUCHDOWN!

Starting from their own 8-yard line and trailing 16-13 with just over three minutes left in the game, JOE MONTANA and JERRY RICE lead the 49ers to the Bengals´ 10-yard line. With 34 seconds showing on the clock, Montana splits the secondary and hits WR John Taylor for the winning score.

 Once again, the 49ers STRIKE GOLD!

Big Games - SF 49ers - route to SuperBowl XLVII

Last evening (night) local time was a great game in schedule: SF 49ers met Atlanta Falcons in Conference finals. Here in Finland I could not watch the game live, because I have not any pay-TV active. That is not a big problem because I could "watch" the game on Internet.
The first quater was quit awfull for 9ers, but as I mentioned in my Twitter mail: "49ers will do it and take down Falcons". And they did it.

Baltimore Ravens had a very good match with Patriots in the other finals. I can be a little proud of the final result and Baltimore victory. I invested a little Euros for Ravens - in fact my wife guided me to do that. So thanks for her. Now I have a little more Euros to invest on Feb. 3rd in SuperBowl.

The only thing that I know is that there will be a very interesting match - both the teams are very motivated to catch SB.

SF 49ers a route to the Super Bowl XLVII

Some days ago I found a really interestin "book" in my archive. I have always been a somekind of collector: stamps, First Day Covers, Bird Cards etc. The book, I found, reminds me Joe Montana and San Fransisco 49ers Football team in NFL league.
The book or should I say an album comes from the year 1989 and has over 100 stickers presenting all the best teams and best players during the season 1989. One of my American penfriend helped me to collect the album - otherwise it would have been a mission impossible here in Finland.
The next Super Bowl is coming closer and closer  - my favour team SF 49ers are still in good shape there hi... and I hope to see them in finals. Of course, they will do that.
